Doing business...Business was historically established because somebody
succeeded in creating more food or clothes than he or she was able to use him or
herself. For a long time people exchanged goods. One household had too much
flour, and another had too much flax. It is called barter economy, where a
shared living is self-sufficient. Monetary matters were established, because it
simplified the exchange, which soon became comprehensive. Craftsmanship could be
sold indiscriminately, as long as the counterpart had money. Trade involves
buying and selling. A person could also sell his working capacity. The nature,
animals, and human beings thereby got a comparable indication of value. Money
has got an objective value, released from the characteristics that the commodity
possessed from the very start... Town development
Town development consist in people moving from the country into the towns to work and to live there. The reason is the increasing mechanization ... where the need of labour is reduced in the country... Leisure-time activity comes
into existence as a potential, in line with a reduction of the need of
physical work... The historical perspective shows a departure from old patterns towards a release of a new human potential, including more and more people. These changes are material. Karl Marx believed that that the end of the story would be a society, ruled by workers (the proletariat). History has shown that his knowledge of human mentality was rather limited... |
