Myths, fairytales and so on should be regarded as depositing, a narrative style, which is sometimes established by a divine interference through dreams, visions or revelations...

The myth contains a room, characters, and a course of events. The characters may be gods, creating and subsequently control important vocations in life: fishing, hunting, cultivating, warfare, birth and death. If a religious myth shall take effect for centuries ... it must appeal to people and make them think differently. It may show an alternative way of acting, but is first of all a frame for exegesis. The interpretation is carried out by selected: priests, medicine men...

The myth of Sisyphus

Sisyphean task means to push a stone uphill whereupon it rolls down again. The story line continues eternally, without a change for the better.
